In my last post I talked about the idea of colour theory in photography and how that can enhance and tell stories through photos
Something else that is also important but I don’t believe is as talked about is textures and how this are just as important to story telling
Textures can help to
• Create Layers of Depth
• Apply different visual interest to a larger story
• Entice emotion from the viewer
Some ways to capture these textures can include
• Playing with light – let shadows be your friend
• Try new and different angles rather than the same tired overused ones – think below or up high
• Maybe even use grain in your photos – remember how good photos look on film?
• Different colours can also help
• Use the environment
These can be applied to any styles of photography and really enhance your photography and create more interesting stories that are there or not there
